Packaging for tobacco places high demands upon the cartonboard, the printing process and converting. The printing frequently entails the complete range of technical possibilities: offset printing, flexo printing, gravure printing and digital printing. These folding cartons are more than merely cigarette packs. They mostly have high-quality finishing and must protect the sensitive contents against sensory or organoleptic influences. The cigarette packaging facilities run at a speed of more than 1,000 packages per minute. Constant cartonboard quality is therefore essential.
Cartonboard solutions for tobacco must fulfil a number of requirements:
- Protection against negative external influences
- Excellent sensory values in order to protect the product against taste and odour influences
- Constant quality for first-class converting performance and on the packaging facilities
- Outstanding surface properties for first-class results with printing and finishing (UV colours and coatings, effect and spot finishing, blind and hot foil embossing, window films, etc.)
